Pinal County Sheriff’s Office motorcycle deputies delivered an outstanding performance at the Terry Bennett Memorial Police Motorcycle Training and Competition in San Diego, bringing home eight different awards, including first place overall rider.

The annual event honors the memory of San Diego Police Officer Terry Bennett, a 13-year veteran motor officer. He was killed in the line of duty on June 26, 2003, when his motorcycle was intentionally rammed during a vehicle pursuit. Officer Bennett had just celebrated his 38th birthday and was known for his exceptional riding skills, having won a team championship in a skills competition just weeks before his death.

Held each fall in the San Diego area, the competition brings together police motor officers from various agencies throughout Southern California and the Southwest.
