FLORENCE, AZ — Florence will fully close the intersection of Hunt Highway and Attaway Road from March 15 through March 22 for critical construction improvements.
A complete shutdown was not initially planned. However, the contractor discovered failing pavement within the intersection that must be entirely removed before crews can build the planned upgrades safely and efficiently. Uninterrupted access will allow them to address these deficiencies and complete the remaining work with quality and safety as priorities.
During the closure, Hunt Highway traffic will detour via Arizona Farms Road. Attaway Road traffic will reroute through SR 287. Additional travel time is expected while detours are in place.
Work is scheduled during Spring Break for Florence Unified School District and American Leadership Academy, when school-related traffic is significantly reduced. The project timeline also allows the intersection to be open before the upcoming Country Thunder event.
