CASA GRANDE, AZ — Arizona Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol troopers assisted a driver experiencing a mental health crisis yesterday evening.

Around 10 PM on October 15, troopers responded to a reported three-vehicle collision on I-10 in Casa Grande, with one vehicle blocking the right lane. Upon arrival, they found a silver Infiniti abandoned in the right lane with the engine and lights off. A brief investigation determined there had been no collision.

Troopers contacted the registered owner through dispatch and determined the vehicle had not been stolen; the owner stated a family member was supposed to be driving the vehicle and the family had not heard from them.

The driver was located in the desert adjacent to I-10 and was experiencing a mental health crisis. Troopers successfully reunited the driver with their family and provided information for mental health services.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety reminds the public that mental health resources are available, including the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988 and the Arizona Crisis Line at 1-844-534-HOPE (4673). Anyone who believes someone in crisis is a danger to themselves or others should call 911.
