APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZ. – The City of Apache Junction is pleased to announce that the Animal Control facility at 725 E. Baseline Ave. will reopen to the public on Tuesday, August 12.
Following major repair and construction work, Animal Control staff is preparing the facility to resume the following services and programs upon reopening:
Full services available starting August 12:
- Animal Adoptions
- Pet Licensing
- Donation Drop-Off
- Volunteer Interest List (Now Open)
Owner surrenders and stray animal drop-offs will be temporarily limited from August 12 through Friday, September 12, except in emergencies. This measure allows staff to smoothly transition daily operations back into the permanent facility, prioritize the health and safety of animals in care, and facilitate adoptions after a high volume of emergency intakes during the temporary relocation.
During this time, community members can call Animal Control at (480) 983-4405 to be added to the owner surrender and stray animal drop-off waiting list.
The reopening follows a temporary closure during which extensive work was done to address persistent rodent issues at the facility. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the problem, a more aggressive approach was needed, leading to the closure and temporary relocation of Animal Control to a satellite office while work was completed at the facility.
The Apache Junction Police Department extends its sincere gratitude to the Apache Junction Unified School District for allowing Animal Control to use the old Four Peaks school building as a temporary satellite office during this period.
