Newly Passed Legislation Moves Up Primary Date

PINAL COUNTY, AZ – The Arizona House voted unanimously on February 2nd to pass legislation moving the primary from the first Tuesday in August to the second-to-last Tuesday in July, ensuring that election officials can meet federally mandated deadlines to send out general election ballots to military and overseas voters. On Friday, Governor Hobbs signed the bill, thus moving the 2026 primary election date from August 4 to July 21.
