The Casa Grande Arts & Culture Commission invites artists of all ages and skill levels to participate in Casa Grande on Canvas, the annual Plein Air Painting Competition, taking place on Saturday, March 21, 2026. This event celebrates the art of painting outdoors with live subjects and natural light – a practice rooted in the French tradition of en plein air (“in the open air”).

The competition encourages local and regional artists to explore and capture the beauty, spirit, and unique landscapes of Casa Grande using mediums such as oil, watercolor, acrylic, or pastel. All artwork must be created outdoors on the day of the event and reflect the changing light, color, and atmosphere of the city’s scenery.

Artists will check in between 7:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. at Casa Grande City Hall, 510 E. Florence Blvd., and may paint any outdoor subject within Casa Grande city limits throughout the day. Finished artwork must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. at Dave White Regional Park, where judging and awards will take place later that afternoon.

  • Early Registration (Feb. 2 – March 13, 2026): $15 (Adults 18+)
